Closed a first deal with a roofing company after several months of effort.
I finally closed my first deal today after many months of slogging. In the end, this one came without much resistance. A Roofing company with around 2,000 leads.
Member story — A ROYA member
He was moving fast and signing on pure performance — no retainer, no setup fee, paid only when the client made a sale. Five clients in a few weeks across solar, business solar, surface protection franchising, mortgages for poor credit, and financial advisory.
He ran the campaigns. The bot worked. Across three of the five clients it produced 35, 12 and 31 appointments — 78 in total — on test lists of 10,000, 3,000 and 1,400 leads.
No sales. Not from any of them. The appointments were delivered and the clients' own sales teams did not convert them. Because he had signed on pure performance, he earned nothing. “The challenge I have at the moment is without revenue, it's hurting.”
“It's a bit disheartening, especially seeing the stories here, but I am determined to get there.”
Solar at $100 a lead, business solar at $350 a lead, surface protection at $1,500 a sale, plus two more launching within days.
35 appointments on the first, 12 on the second inside 48 hours, 31 on the third. The clients reported close rates of 35% and 50% — “so they say”.
“NO RECORDED SALES SO FAR.” Written three times in the same post, once for each campaign.
A “No Sales Retainer” clause: if no sales are made within four to six weeks, the client moves onto a $3,000–$5,000 monthly retainer until commissions overtake it.
A note on the numbers
This is the only post in a library of 142 where the outcome was clearly negative, and we have published it deliberately. It documents a real failure mode — signing on pure performance means your income depends on someone else's sales team — and the fix the member arrived at. It should also be read as a direct qualification of every other page on this site: the results elsewhere are real, and they are not what happens every time.

After a month of cold outreach with no warm audience to draw on, landed a first coffee date.
I've not been very active here but have been working away doing cold outreach (unfortunately don't have a warm audience) and just got the first coffee date! ... I say finally think it's only been a month but I'm pretty impatient.
Two calls arranged after a week of back-and-forth; both interested and moving to tests.
So some positives, need to work on my call game and getting the details from them, first one was nervous, 2nd one not so much as I had 'validation' from the first one.
Read how the model actually works, or start with the book and see the whole system for the price of a coffee.
